The Venu Outreach Model

The three levels of delivery comprise

Tertiary Level - Referral & Teaching Hospital

At the top of the pyramid of a health care service delivery network is a specialized referral and treatment centre. The Tertiary Hospital, usually for referral from primary and secondary medical care professionals, has highly trained personnel for all sub-specialty care to treat complex and serious conditions.
Complicated cases are identified and brought back to the Base Hospital in New Delhi, which is a full-spectrum hospital equipped with state of the art facilities to address all eye care related needs.
Venu’s transportation arrangements ensure that patients are ferried cross-state by its trusted team of drivers and coordinators, to and from their villages, when they need to be brought to the Base Hospital for surgeries.

Secondary Level – Satellite Hospitals

There are five Satellite Hospitals at the secondary level equipped to do routine surgeries, including cataract with the phacoemulsification technique. There are well-qualified ophthalmologists and paramedics permanently stationed at each of these hospitals. Specialists from the New Delhi Base Hospital visit these hospitals at least once a week.

Primary Level – Vision Centres/ Peripheries/ Camps

The primary level consists of 7 fixed Vision Centres, which provide primary eye care services including refraction and post-operative care. These Vision Centres operate from both the Base as well as Satellite Hospitals, covering the entire district of each satellite with a varying population of 50,000 to 1,00,000.
At these centres, patients identified for surgery are taken to either the Base Hospital or the Satellite Hospital under the purview of which the Vision Centre is functioning.
For post-operative follow ups the patients visit the Vision Centres.
For areas that cannot be covered through regular peripheral visits, surgical and diagnostic camps help to reach this much needed service to under-served or unserved areas.
Regular screening camps in the district help in spreading awareness about eye diseases.
Additionally, our teams seek out schools for the screening of the young with the aim of reducing visual impairment among children, and enhancing community awareness.
